2011 Seminar series hugely successful!

In Sydney he capacity audience was captivated by Nora who could have talked for days on this subject! Dr Ron Ehrlich's introduction with Dr Weston A Price's photos was fascinating,  Bruce Ward's presentation of how large herds of grazing cattle can regenerate degraded land while providing inexpensive nutrient dense food was an eye opener for the city audience and Costa's "Produce not Product" talk was hugely entertaining with a serous message. The  food by Agape Organic Restaurant was sublime! A great day!

In Armidale David  Mason-Jones showed why  grass-fed meat should be on the menu and Rob Blomfield's story about his health transformation was rivetting.

At the Gold Coast Tony Lovell's presentation on cattle,  land regeneration and methane challenged the "cattle are bad for the environment" dogma.

We will soon have a page with stories, photos, feedback and links so please contact us if you would like to contribute. Here's an example of a happy attendee.

Prospect Merino
Welcome to Prospect Merino - Home of pasture fed lamb

Prospect Merino is a family run merino sheep breeding operation on the banks of the Wallambin Lake system in the wheat belt of WA.  Sheep are bred on our own property from ewes selected for their ability to produce healthy, well grown, lambs.  Merino sheep form the entire breeding flock as this type of sheep naturally maintains a lower fat to meat ratio than some other breeds of sheep.  The Lake system provides a wonderfully fertile soils system upon which grazing animals flourish

Our sheep are all grazed in a free range setting with minimum stress resulting in meat which is naturally lean and ultimately tender and tasty.  We practice biological farming methods, utilizing soil friendly fertilizers (ie seaweed, fish, humates, minerals) to support and encourage biodiversity in soil life, resulting in excellent feed quality for our livestock.  We believe in building soil health-> plant health -> animal health and ultimately human health as nature intended. Animals raised in such an environment thrive naturally, with no requirements for artificial chemicals to control intestinal parasites.  Similarly, there is no need for use of antibiotics in our animals.  Raising animals in a consistent environment with consistent care and management ensures a consistent quality end product year round.

Our commitment to marketing lamb raised on a pasture fed diet with no grain supplements is in keeping with current international research which is highlighting the benefits to human health from this approach. This in conjunction with regenerative agricultural practices aimed at improving soil fertility throughout the landscape, increasing biodiversity of flora and fauna, and returning perennial vegetation all create a complete wholesome product.

Animal welfare benefits are also enhanced with livestock managed in a pasture based system.  Animals experience less stress with decreased yarding and decreased management requirements due to excellent health.  There are fewer disease issues due to plenty of open space to move about.
